RONERO & ESCOBAR

Restaurant | 2017

This restaurant and club project had been a bicycle shop when we found it. Extensive work began as three floors transformed inside this vintage, Chicago structure. The main floor dining areas and bar features inspired interior design that blends throwback Art Deco style from South America with the finest in modern finishes to generate an atmosphere found nowhere else in the city. Juxtaposing exposed brick and a new custom Oak coffered ceiling reinforces in the space a sense of unique unification. Dramatic, backlit brass panels outline the grand, tiled staircase leading to a second floor with a private event space and an after-hours dance club and music venue—Escobar’s entrance is actually in the alley opposite the restaurant’s main entrance. In the basement floor, all the necessities from storage to restrooms are kept separate from the guest areas.
